Chemo Side Effects
Chemo has been good this week. The side effects are mostly fatigue and stomach issues. It hits at the most inconvenient times. There is no warning, and it is not really the same every time. This treatment had more stomach issues than last time. The fatigue was comparable, mostly in full force on Friday and Saturday.
I did make it to the temple this week! My mom took me to get my Neulasta shot on Thursday (White Blood Cell booster) and we made a temple trip of it. I was discouraged at my struggle to stay awake during the session. I had a similar experience at the evening session of Stake Conference Saturday night. I was sitting front and center, so I was embarrassed by my inability to stay awake. I really hope I did not offend the speakers. I woke up to President Goodwin referencing my testimony. It is never good to wake up and realize the speaker is talking about you. :)
He referenced my testimony I gave a few weeks ago in Sacrament meeting. I shared how meaningful Isaiah has become to me. I can not believe that I did not realize that most of my favorite scriptures and hymns stem from this amazing man. Reading Isaiah as I found out that I was to do chemo again was such a blessing to me. I felt that I was receiving love notes from God. Here are a few of my favorites:
God knows. He will renew my strength.
The Lord knows what I can handle. It will not be too much.
I do not need to be afraid. The Lord is a compensatory God.
I am so excited to see the blessings he has in store, but my favorite part is that I can feel the strength and have the light with me NOW. The light does not have to be at the end of the tunnel. It is HERE. It is for the days that I try to push forward, but cannot stay awake. My Savior understands and he loves me anyway. He promises enabling power, peace and joy NOW. I will continue to ask for His help. Sometimes you have to seek more when the hard stuff overwhelms. Sometimes it is by the minute. I believe He does not mind. I am grateful for my journey. It has taught me more about Him.
